Step 1: Install ScribeMD from Athena Marketplace
Open Athena Marketplace: Log in to your Athena health account and navigate to the Athena Marketplace.
Search for ScribeMD: Use the search function to find the ScribeMD application.
Install ScribeMD: Follow the prompts to install the ScribeMD app on your Athena account.
Step 2: Grant Access to Users
Access Settings: Go to the settings section of your Athena account.
User Management: Navigate to user management and find the ScribeMD app.
Assign Access: Assign access to the necessary users, ensuring they have the required permissions to use the ScribeMD app.
Step 3: Using ScribeMD in a Patient Encounter
Log In to Athena: Log in to your Athena health account.
Navigate to Patient Encounter: Go to the patient encounter section where you want to use ScribeMD.
Select a Patient: Choose the patient whose encounter you want to document.
Step 4: Launch ScribeMD
Open Exam Section: Within the patient encounter, navigate to the exam section.
Launch ScribeMD: Find the ScribeMD launch location and click to open the app.
Step 5: Authenticate ScribeMD
Initial Authentication: If it's your first time using ScribeMD, authenticate the connection between your ScribeMD and Athena accounts.
Enter Credentials: Enter your ScribeMD credentials if prompted.
Receive OTP: You may receive a one-time password (OTP) for verification. Enter the OTP to complete the authentication.
First-time Setup: This first-time authentication ensures that your ScribeMD and Athena accounts are linked for future sessions.
Step 6: Document the Patient Encounter
Start a Session: Begin a new session in ScribeMD.
Input Patient Information: Enter the patient's information and details of the encounter.
Example Entry: "I've been sick for the last couple of days with headaches. The doctor suggested taking ibuprofen and staying hydrated."
Generate Note: Click on the "Generate Note" button to create a clinical note based on the input.
Step 7: Review and Edit Notes
Review Notes: Examine the generated notes for accuracy.
Edit if Necessary: Make any necessary edits to the notes to ensure they are accurate and complete.
Step 8: Send Notes to Athena
Approve Notes: Once the notes are accurate, approve them.
Send to Athena: Click "Send Notes to Athena" to transfer the notes back to the Athena health system.
Confirmation: You should receive a notification confirming that the notes have been successfully sent to Athena.
Step 9: Verify Notes in Athena
Reload Frame: Reload the frame in your Athena account.
Check History: Go to the patient's history to verify that the notes have been properly uploaded.
Check Exam and Assessment Sections: Ensure that the notes appear in the physical exam and assessment and plan sections.
By following these steps, you can efficiently use ScribeMD to document patient encounters within the Athena health platform, ensuring that all notes are accurately recorded and easily accessible.
